Our January round-table workshop was held on Thursday January 20, 2022, 12:00 Noon EDT. and was a discussion of discussion of Benchtop NMR. Paul Bowyer of JEOL UK will lead the panel that includes Kate Kemsley (Quadram Institute, Norwich UK), Travis Gregar (3M, USA), David Foley (Merck, USA) and Maria Silva Elipe (Amgen , USA).
Over the past decade, benchtop NMR spectroscopy has made considerable strides towards gaining recognition and acceptance beyond the NMR research community. This has been driven by several factors, including improvements in instrument performance, reductions in instrument size, and improvements to the data acquisition and processing software. Benchtop NMR instruments are now being deployed in a diverse array of applications in both industry and academia. Despite the undoubted progress that has been made, significant hurdles to benchtop NMR’s wider adoption remain. In this IVAN session, the panel will provide an overview of some current applications of benchtop NMR, and will discuss both the challenges and opportunities faced, in the past, present and future.o benchtop NMR’s wider adoption remain.
