IVAN Hour – Dear Barry: Stories from Barry Shapiro’s NMR Newsletters, 1958-2001

Tuesday night April 18, 2023 at 8:00 PM Clemens Anklin was in-person in the IVAN suite to honor Barry Shapiro and briefly talk about his own project to create the TAMU Newsletters collection. We got together to reminisce about individual letters that are fun or particularly interesting to us.

The late Professor Barry Shapiro, of Texas A&M University is well known to us as the editor of the NMR (later “TAMU”) Newsletter, a monthly collection of bound letters from members of the NMR community, each announcing their opinions and discoveries. Each letter began with “Dear Barry:” In 2020 Clemens Anklin of Bruker and some colleagues started a personal project to collect all the paper TAMU newsletters and publish them on-line.
