IVAN Hour @ ENC 2023 Cultural Heritage Science – Understanding the Past, One Molecule at a Time
April 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm PDT
FreeWhat is the connection between 67Zn NMR at 35 Tesla, a synchrotron light source, the Laplace transformation and Rembrandt……. wait, did I say Rembrandt? Yes, that’s right… Rembrandt! Join us Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM in the IVAN suite where our ENC colleague Nick Zumbalyadis will have the answer and teach us something new about the growing field of Cultural Heritage Science.
We know Nick from many past ENC’s as a long-time researcher at Kodak and more recently for his post-retirement work to introduce advanced solid-state NMR methods with modelling in the field of art restoration. Nick works together with Silvia Centeno of the Scientific Research Department of the Metropolitan Museum and with Professor Cecil Dybowski of the University of Delaware. With two NSF grants in the past 8 years he carries the title of Affiliated Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Delaware.
Take note of the earlier hour of 7:00 PM as Nick speaks on-line from the east coast. Join us Wednesday for a great talk and discussion, particularly if you are also interested in art, science and history.
Host: Nick Zumbulyadis, Independent Scholar and Affiliated Professor, University of Delaware
This meeting will be in-person, online via Zoom and live streamed on YouTube
